The AI assistant

The AI assistant answers questions about your plant, such as "Which machine lost the most time this week?" or "Why was PRS-12 down so much on second shift yesterday?" It reads your downtime, OEE, production, parts, alerts and energy, then writes a short answer with the figures and links to the screens they came from.

It is an add-on for plants on Pro or Plant. To use your own AI tool, such as Claude or ChatGPT, instead, see Use What Started with your AI.

Add it

An owner or admin adds it under Settings → Billing, in Add-ons. It goes on the plant's existing subscription, and the rest of the month is on the next invoice. Removing it ends it straight away, and the unused part of the month comes off the next invoice.

The add-on includes a number of questions a month for the whole plant, shown in Billing. When they run out, questions stop until the next month starts, in the plant's time zone. A question that fails on our side is not counted.

Ask a question

Press Ask in the top bar on any screen. Type the question and press Enter, or pick one of the examples. The answer appears as it is written. Under it, Looked at lists the data it read.

You can ask a follow-up in the same panel, such as "What about the other presses?" Each follow-up counts as one more question. Closing the page clears the conversation.

The assistant answers in the language of the question. It can only read: it cannot change machines, log downtime or see other plants.

Answers come from an AI model and can be wrong. Before you act on a figure, open the screen the answer links to and check it there.

Choose who can ask

Owners and admins set this up under Settings → AI assistant:

  • On or off for the whole plant.
  • Who can ask. Owners and admins always can. Operators can by default, and members cannot. You can change both.
  • Notes that operators type. Off by default. When it is off, the assistant sees the downtime reason but not the note, since notes can contain names or other details.

The same page shows how many questions each person asked this month.

What is sent and what is kept

To answer a question, we send the question and the plant data needed to answer it to the company that runs the AI model we use, Anthropic or Google. We use their paid services, which do not use this data to train their models.

We keep a count of questions per person and what they cost us. We do not keep the questions or the answers. See Privacy and terms for the full list of services we use.
