Getting started

The board and TV view

The board shows every machine as a tile, colored by status. Open it from the home page of the app: switch from Table to Board.

The figures at the top

  • Running: machines running, out of all machines on the board.
  • Stopped: machines down, waiting or idle.
  • No signal: machines that stopped sending pings.
  • Downtime today: time spent down, waiting, idle or with no signal since local midnight. Off is planned and does not count.
  • Availability: running time over the day so far, leaving out time the machines were off.

The day starts at midnight in the plant's time zone. Live in the corner means updates are coming in; Connecting… means the page is reconnecting.

Reading a tile

The band at the top and the status line use the colors of an andon light:

Color Status Meaning
Green Running The machine is making parts
Red Down Broken down or stopped by a fault
Amber Idle On but not producing
Blue Waiting Waiting for material, an operator or QC
Grey Off Planned off
Grey No signal The machine stopped sending pings

Next to the status is how long the machine has been in it. Under it is the reason logged for the stop, or for a machine with no signal, how long since its last ping, like No ping for 7 min.

The thin bar shows the machine's day so far: clear while running, colored for each stop.

The bottom row has:

  • Parts/h: parts made in the last hour, from the machine's counter. With a target rate it reads Parts/h · target, and turns red when a running machine is behind. See Counts, scrap and rates.
  • Cycles: the machine's counter as last sent.
  • Down today: this machine's downtime since midnight.

Metrics you pin under Settings → Metrics show in a row below, up to three, in red when out of range. See Live values, charts and range alerts.

Click a machine's name to open its page.

Areas

When your plant has areas, the board groups tiles under each area's name, in the order set under Settings → Areas, with a count of how many are running. Machines without an area come last, under No area.

To show one area, click its name above the board. The address then ends in ?area= and the area's id, so you can bookmark it. All areas goes back to the whole plant. See Areas, import and export.

TV view

For a screen on the shop floor:

  1. Open the board, and pick an area if you want only that one.
  2. Click TV mode. The TV view opens at /tv with the same area.
  3. Make the browser full screen.

The TV view shows the same figures and tiles in larger type, with no menus or links.

The TV view needs a signed-in account; there is no separate TV login. Sign the TV's browser in once and leave it open. To keep a personal login off the floor, invite an account for the screen as Member under Settings → Team. See Team and roles.

Updates without refreshing

The board and TV view update by themselves. A status change, a cycle count or a metric value appears within a second of the ping or tap that caused it. The whole page also reloads every 30 seconds on the board and every 15 seconds on the TV view, so durations and today's figures stay current.

If the connection drops, the board catches up as soon as it is back.
