Plans and billing

Every plant starts on Free. Pro is billed per machine, each month, through Stripe. Your current plan and machine count are under Settings → Billing. Everyone on the team can see that page; only owners and admins can change billing.

Free and Pro

The current limits and prices are on the pricing page, and they can change. When this guide was written:

Free Pro
Machines Up to 5 Unlimited
Ping interval 60 seconds 10 seconds
History 7 days 90 days
Shift schedules 1 Unlimited
Cycle counts and OEE No Yes
Metrics No Yes
Read API No Yes
Webhook endpoints None Up to 5

QR stickers, downtime reasons, the board, CSV export and email alerts are on both. On Free, reports show availability and where the time went; performance, quality and OEE need cycle counts. See How OEE is calculated.

There is also a Plant plan with longer history. It can't be bought in the app yet; to ask about it, write to us.

What you pay for

Pro is priced per active machine, per month. A machine is anything on your board: a press, a line, a robot cell. Archived machines are not billed. You pay for at least one machine.

When you add, import or archive machines, What Started updates the count in Stripe. Stripe prorates the change on your next invoice.

To stop paying for a machine you no longer run, archive it from its own page. Its history stays, and you can restore it later. See Export or delete your data.

Upgrade to Pro

  1. Open Settings → Billing.
  2. Click Upgrade to Pro.
  3. Enter your card on the Stripe Checkout page and confirm.

You come back to the Billing page. Your plan changes as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, usually within a few seconds.

Change your card, get invoices or cancel

On a paid plan, click Manage billing under Settings → Billing. It opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can:

  • update the card
  • download invoices
  • cancel the subscription

If a payment fails, the Billing page says so. Pro keeps working while Stripe retries the card; update it in Manage billing.

When you cancel, the Billing page shows the date the plan Ends. Pro keeps working until that date; then the plant moves to Free.

Back on Free

Moving back to Free deletes nothing straight away, but Pro features stop:

  • Machines over the limit keep working. You can't add machines or restore archived ones until you are under the Free limit. Archive machines to get there.
  • History in reports and the API shortens to the Free window. Older history is kept for at least 30 more days, so upgrading again within a month brings it back.
  • Cycle counts and metrics from pings are no longer stored, and reports show availability only.
  • API keys stop working, without being revoked. They work again if you upgrade.
  • Webhooks stop being sent. Your endpoints stay.
  • Extra shift schedules stay, but you can't add more.

To upgrade again, use Upgrade to Pro on the Billing page.
