Set up your plant

Shift schedules

A shift schedule is the plant's working week for a group of machines, such as "Two shifts, Mon–Fri". It is made of shifts, and each shift has days, a start, an end and break minutes. Time outside the shifts, and breaks, is not planned production time. See How OEE is calculated.

Each machine uses one schedule or none. A machine without a schedule is planned around the clock.

Owners and admins change schedules under Settings → Shifts. Other members can see them there.

Add a schedule

  1. Open Settings → Shifts.
  2. Under Add a schedule, type a Schedule name and click Add schedule.
  3. Under the new schedule, add its shifts.

To rename a schedule, change its name at the top of the schedule and click Rename.

The Free plan includes one schedule. Pro and Plant have no limit.

Add a shift

  1. Fill in Shift with a name, like Day.
  2. Under Days it starts, pick the days. Monday to Friday are picked to begin with.
  3. Set Start and End.
  4. Set Break, min: the minutes of breaks in the shift, from 0 to 600. Breaks must be shorter than the shift.
  5. Click Add shift.

Shifts in one schedule cannot overlap, including Sunday night into Monday. If they do, you see which shift it clashes with.

To take a shift out, click Remove next to it.

Overnight shifts

Give the shift an end earlier than its start, such as 22:00 to 06:00. It runs into the next day and shows as (next day). It belongs to the day it starts, so pick the days it starts on: a night shift that starts Sunday to Thursday covers the nights into Monday to Friday.

What the schedule page shows

Under each schedule you see its planned hours a week, the shift on now (or Between shifts now), and the machines that use it.

Breaks are minutes, not clock times. A shift of 8 hours with a 30-minute break gives 7.5 planned hours. A report that covers part of a shift counts that share of its break.

Give a machine a schedule

  1. Open the machine from the home page of the app.
  2. Under Shift schedule, pick a schedule, or Around the clock for none.
  3. Click Save.

Owners and admins can do this. The machine page shows the shift on now under Shift. To set schedules for many machines at once, use the shift_schedule column in a machine import. See Areas, import and export.

Schedule for new machines

New machines use at the top of Settings → Shifts sets the schedule every new machine starts on, whether added by hand or by import. Pick 24/7, no schedule to leave new machines planned around the clock. Changing it does not move machines you already have.

When you create a plant, you pick its usual hours:

  • Mon–Fri, 8 to 5 adds a schedule with one Day shift, 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday with a 60-minute break, and makes it the default. That is 8 planned hours a day. On the Free plan it is your one schedule; rename it or change its shifts to fit.
  • 24/7 adds no schedule.

Delete a schedule

Click Delete this schedule. Its machines go back to around the clock. If it was the schedule for new machines, new machines go back to 24/7.

Time zone

Shift times are wall-clock times in the plant's time zone, shown at the top of the page. Change the time zone under Settings → Plant. Changes to daylight saving time are handled for you.

One-off days off, like holidays, are not part of a schedule. Log them with a planned reason such as Not scheduled. See Downtime reasons.
